Old Lags Club

Any Lifeboater who gets banned from another board, or is refused admission to an MBA or Passworded board... is an Old Lag.  Say it loud, I'm BANNED and I'm PROUD!  

Lifeboaters code of practice... advice from the Captain.

• Don't like someone? Ignore them or go away.
  
• Someone giving you a hard time? Give 'em one back... but do it in the BBC forum
  
• Want 'em banned? Don't tell me, let them dig their own grave.
  
• Don't like the board? Make a positive contribution or go elsewhere...
  
• Someone been giving you a hard time on another board and followed you here? Don't expect any better treatment here... everyone gets judged on their own merits and own actions... and I don't care a toss what happened on any other board. Hey, you can tell us about it if you have to, but don't expect me or anyone else to take up your cause.
  
• If you want to give out crap expect to get it back and don't complain to me when you do.
  
• Someone might be banned if they overstep the mark on this board... and the management decides. Apart from a couple of spammers and a few alter-egos there is only one person that remains permanently banned from Starship Lifeboat (and hey it isn't Dave.)
  
• Don't like the way the board is run or what happens on it? Set up your own perfect board with perfect rules and perfect posters, and let me know the addy, so I can avoid it like the plague.
  
• Or make it password/MBA so you can tell us how much better it is than any other board but nobody will be able to go & see for themselves except on your say so.
  
• So... speak up, speak out, but speak for yourself. Or shut up... choice is yours. The Board of the Free is just that... costs you nothing... you're free to come and go as you wish... but anything you do or don't do here is YOUR free choice - nobody press-ganged you, you are a volunteer crew member. And like all freedom it carries responsibility, you alone are accountable for what issues from your keyboard.
  
• Lifeboaters are mostly independent minded people who are free to say what they think. And everyone else is free to respond to them as they see fit which includes making no response at all... Remember, when everything else has been tried and tested, ignoring someone is really the ONLY effective way to respond to someone who pisses you off. If you HAVE to respond, taking the piss is the next best way and will at least give the rest of us a laugh.
  
• If you want to be my friend... be my friend off the board, where it counts... but what happens on this board is not a bargaining chip for friendship. As I've said many times it is only a board, and an imperfect one at that; it's not a crusade.
  
• The next person who tells me they can't be my friend unless I do this or do that or ban so and so can feck off. (Lurkers pay attention please.) I don't want friends like that. I want friends who can fight their own battles, or have the sense to back off; and have enough respect for me and the rest of the Lifeboaters to allow us to make up our own sweet minds.
  
• Finally... numbers of posters ain't an issue... I would rather post with 15 spunky, articulate people who can hold their own on the Lifeboat than 150 people who only post to agree with each other and flinch at the first sound of a rude word.. which, by the way, are not censored..
